Dear Joyce, I am grieving with you the loss of Sandy, a wonderful friend and long-time colleague for me, treasured life partner for you. He embodied the ideal professional and true mensch in our Met Orchestra. His love of music, high artistic standards, and cooperative attitude were highly valued in our 1st violin section. And how can I not mention his contributions as committee chairman over the course of 8 consecutive contracts!? His well-reasoned and even-tempered leadership were invaluable to our group over the span of decades. We will all miss him, you most of all. Sending you strength and love from Lanny and myself.
