Condolences

Condolence From: Fred Barton
Condolence: To the family of Dr. David Fairchild –

I can't believe it has been a year since David left us. Having been a student (twice a week for 32 years) and a friend, he is never far from my thoughts, and his absence is a void that cannot be filled.

I received an e-mail from him a half hour before he passed away. How I wish I'd been awake to reply instantaneously.

Best wishes to all,

Fred Barton

Condolence From: Alison and David Pinsley
Condolence: To the family or David Fairchild. We were sorry to learn of David's passing. We are now living in FL, and I didn't learn of his death until today when I went to post birthday greetings on his facebook page.
David was a kind, generous and giving individual. I will never forget going on a concert tour to Europe and David was our Bass Soloist. What a thrill it was to perform with him.
He performed with the Westchester Band under Dr. Albright and many people were just thrilled to hear his Bass voice.
My husband, David Pinsley, took voice lessons with him shortly after we were married, for several years. He learned voice control and some theory, which he carries with him to this day.

Condolence: Dr. Fairchild was my music teacher throughout high school; I became president of the choir during my last year of high school before continuing onto college. As the choir president, I remember how Dr. Fairchild impacted our group as a teacher and musician, through his guidance, knowledge and leadership. Through his encouragement and direction, a bunch of kooky kids became a unified group of singers, a performing choir. With our fund raising events, we made enough money to purchase new choir robes for the current choir and for future Eastchester High School choir members. Also, Dr. Fairchild took many of us to see our first opera at the MET and other musical performances, as well. He was a great artist and master teacher. I will surely miss him; my deepest condolences to his family.

Condolence: I was sorry to hear about the death of Dr. Fairchild. My deepest condolences go out to David and Janet and all of their family.

Dr. Fairchild entered my life was I was at Anne Hutchinson Elementary School. I learned music with him, grew to love singing, and later playing the flute. I eventually took private singing and flute lessons with him after school. He was an encouraging, patient teacher. Later in high school, there was chorus, madrigals, Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, and musical theater productions. I participated in local community theatre in minor parts with him in the lead. One memorable role was Freddy in My Fair Lady. Who can forget his rendition of “I Have Often Walked Down This Street Before”?! He and his wife Carmella performed both solos and duets for my dad’s outdoor concert series under the stars with the Westchester Band in Eastchester and Scarsdale. What beautiful memories he leaves and what a legacy leading many of us to careers or at the very least hobbies in music. This past January, my dad, Dr. Joe Albright, also passed away. I just know your dad and mine are up in heaven creating beautiful music and inspiring others to do the same.

Condolence From: Cecil B. King
Condolence: Dr. Fairchild shaped my music education from Anne Hutchinson thru Eastchester High School. He was the only music teacher I ever had, and I have thought of him often whenever I hear music he taught me about, or a song from "Carousel" that Billy Bigelow would have sung. I will always miss him. Cecil King (Koko from the Mikado)

Condolence: I truly hope Doc fully comprehended the magnitude that his passion for music, as well as his compassion for his students, impacted thousands of us in such a positive way. As if yesterday, I recall his face turning red as he conducted us. He had already revealed his heart, so with his face he was asking each of us to give the very best performance we could muster. Because we respected him, we understood and gave our best performances. Also recall his beautiful smile and gentle interaction with his various music students, further endearing us to him. Also, still relish small town summer nights sitting on the Eastchester Town Hall lawn listening to your beautiful Mother’s voice. I would give my right arm for just one more session of Aah, Mey, Mee, Moe, Muu. Although he was truly a Master/Friend to so many, he was also your Dad. David, please accept my heartfelt condolences.
