Obituary for William T. Nolan

William T. Nolan
William “Bill” Nolan was born on March 11, 1929, in Yonkers, New York, to Thomas and Helen Nolan. He is predeceased by his beautiful wife Vivian, his beloved parents, and two cherished sisters, Genevieve (John) Meyer and Peggy (Bryan) Fitzpatrick. He was an adoring Dad to Peggy (Danny) Belles, the late Vivian Carlock, Billy (Shelley) and Bonnie Carlock, a proud and loving Grandfather (Papa) to Alexa and Justin Nolan, Lauren, Daniel, and Brandon Belles, and a dear Great Grandfather to Dean Thomas, Adrian, Vivienne and Harry. He was a devoted uncle to Bryan (Bonnie), Wayne (Sue), and Scott (Mary) Fitzpatrick, Tom (Linda) Johnny (Bernadette) Billy (Diane) and Jeffrey (Sylvia) Meyer.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He worked as a Local 91 Insulator for decades, also known to many as “Beansie.” He lived and raised his family in Tuckahoe, New York. Bill lived to serve and help others and had a strong faith in God. He was a devout Catholic who attended daily Mass, attending church everywhere. He kept a running prayer list which at last count was at 120. One might know that he sang, but if you lived with him or visited long enough, you knew that music and singing were his true joy. One name says it all, Dick Haymes. If Bill had a hand in raising you, then part of your upbringing included knowing every word to “The More I See You,” “Ol’ Man River” and “Peg O’ My Heart.” You might even believe that you were related to Dick Haymes. His treasures included headphones, VHS tapes of old movies, volumes of sheet music, tape reels, and every 33, 78 and 45 of the Big Band Era. Many never knew that he was a professional singer in New York City. He was the kindest, most generous, loving and humble man of God. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. One thing was for sure, his love and devotion was to his family, and if you crossed his path, he was praying for you. Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 6, 2022.

The family would be honored and welcomes all to celebrate the life of William Nolan at a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, New York on Friday at 9:45am. The Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York.
