A Tribute to a Great Guy, Vic Consorte

We celebrate and honor the memory of Vic Consorte. He was a brother, a husband, a dad, a grandpa, and a great grandpa. He was a typical American boy. After school he went into the Army. He stormed Utah beach in Normandy on D-Day. Met the love of his life, Vena Comer. He brought his Welsh war bride back home to Tuckahoe. They lived in a big house that his dad built with his own hands. Together they raised two wonderful, beautiful girls. I can say that because I married one of them. Vic worked hard his whole life at the A&P;, but always devoted his life and his love to his wife and kids. He was a great dad and his daughters adored him. He was also a great father-in-law. I was his hunting and fishing buddy. And on the weekends we planted gardens and worked on all sorts of projects. We built sheds, painted rooms, and did electric and plumbing repairs. If I was going to pick up a tool, he would always show up to lend a hand. He was the best father-in-law a guy could ever have. After all, he gave me the love of MY life. Brenda gave him 2 grandchildren and Janet gave him 2 more. He loved his grandkids. He went on trips with them, went to their games, was at their Christenings, Communions, Confirmations, graduations and birthday partys. And at all these functions including all the holiday dinners, he was always the last one to leave the table. He really enjoyed eating. His grandkids were the lights of his life. He helped and supported them in so many ways. Now his life was complete, or so it seemed. The grandkids grew and soon he was blessed with 8 great grandchildren. He was so proud of each and every one of them. He would beam whenever he looked into their faces. Now his life was really complete. He had everything he had ever hoped for; a family he loved and that loved him. Brother, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, or just Vic, he will be remembered and loved by all of us forever.
