Obituary for Lucy Meo (Mazza)

Lucy Meo (Mazza)
Lucy Meo of Bronxville, NY, gained her angel wings on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 97 years young, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
She was the daughter of Giuseppe and Olivia (Sbarbori) Mazza and was born in Genova Italy on February 12, 1925. She moved to the United States in March 1933. Lucy married the love of her life Nicholas Meo, on November 12, 1949, and they were married for 63 years. After many years of trying to have children, the highlight of their marriage was the birth of their only child, Janice.

Lucy was more than happy to be the central figure in her family’s life. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to bake, cook, entertain and spend time with family and friends. Lucy was famous for her Christmas cookies and her lucky recipients would look forward to this yearly gift. She loved her Saturday shopping sprees with her daughter Janice, tending to her flower garden and decorating her house for all the holidays.

She will forever be remembered for her elegance and grace and she dressed as if every day was a special occasion. Her striking feature was her iconic beehive hairdo that she carried so well all of her life.

She enjoyed her retirement years between Bronxville and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

She is survived by her daughter Janice Meo also from Bronxville and was predeceased her husband Nicholas, her sister’s Marina Maida and Wanda Varanelli and her brother Joseph Mazza. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Westchester Funeral Home 190 Main Street, Eastchester on Wednesday, April 6 from 4-8 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 7 at Immaculate Conception Church at 53 Winter Hill Rd, Tuckahoe, NY 10707.
