Condolences

Condolence From: Rosemary Kurtti
Condolence: JoAnn Zigahn was a very special person who took her love of the ocean and found ways to share it with the world through Beneath The Sea. One of her major focuses was to educate the youth of the world about the importance and the beauty of the ocean. She wanted to encourage young people to become active in helping to conserve that beauty and importance. She did this by sponsoring several youth programs which were sponsored by the Beneath The Sea organization and her work at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.Through these programs and the teams that worked with JoAnn to create these programs, she reached many, many young people who have gone on to become active in educating others about the ocean. Those young people will continue to carry her message forward. This will be a big part of JoAnn’s legacy to the world. May she rest in peace beside her beloved husband, Zig.

Condolence From: The Stasiuk Family
Condolence: To Michael and Family,
Our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mother.
She was a true classy lady who exhibited warmth, kindness and compassion wherever she went.
In addition to the legend your parents left with Beneath the Sea, your mother's devotion to you and your family was always so apparent whenever she spoke of family.
May your beautiful mother be united with your Dad and rest among the Angels.
Fern, Greg and Lorene Stasiuk

Condolence: JoAnn’s life was a celebration of dedication to her sport, to her industry, to her friends and to the family she dearly loved. It is said that the true measure of a person is not how much they loved during their lifetime but how much they are loved by others. JoAnn was loved by everyone. Hers was a life well lived. She leaves a lasting legacy in all those whose lives she enriched. We will miss her but, more importantly, we will remember her.

Condolence: I read last night of the death of JoAnn Zigahn, one of the foundations and guiding lights of Beneath the Sea, and wish to extend my regrets for the loss to the Zigahn family. The world of diving has lost a legend, a pioneer and a warm person who always had encouraging words. I believe the success of the organization was in large measure due to JoAnn’s honesty and dedication to ocean conservation and the diving community. I know I will miss her leadership and her example. My thoughts and prayers go to the Zigahn family.

Condolence: Our dear Joanne is now with her beloved Zig.
Together they grew Beneath the Sea into a world-wide
diving and ocean event that brought together people from across the globe. She worked to create programs that provided young people with support and programs as they began their ocean careers. Her work with the Children's Hospital is legend. The pinnacle of her long career was at DEMA as she and Zig received the 'Reaching Out Award' to a standing ovation in recognition of a career of civic engagement.
I was honored to know and work with her. She will be missed by her family and the legions of people who were inspired by her
leadership.
With my condolences and sympathy,
George Buckley
