Obituary for JoAnn Terranova

JoAnn Terranova, 74, of Eastchester, New York passed peacefully on September 7, 2023. She is the beloved wife of Bernard Terranova for 57 years. JoAnn is the loving mother to her three sons, Bernard Jr., Michael, and Billy, as well as her two daughter-in-laws Lucy and Tiffany. She is the dear sister of Bill Auerbach and the previously deceased Teresa Turiak. She is the cherished grandma to Taylor, Nicholas, Noah, Riley, Joey, and Lily. She was born to Bill and Agnes Auerbach on October 13, 1948, in Manhattan. She is survived by many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, her nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Raised in The Bronx, JoAnn graduated from Evander Childs High School two years early due to her academic prowess. Married soon after high school, she and Bernard would begin their family in Yonkers before purchasing their first house in The Bronx. They would later move to Eastchester where she would reside for the remainder of her wonderful life.
JoAnn loved to bowl at Bowlerland in The Bronx where she would begin a small costume jewelry craft business. The small business would later expand to three jewelry boutiques in New Rochelle and Eastchester. After closing the business, she would become a medical office billing clerk. She would eventually master the world of medical billing to become an insurance auditor for United Health Care where she would be nationally recognized by the company as the Northeast American Regional Employee of the Year. She retired from United Health Care in 2019. Although she began her career late, she was very proud of her abilities and success in the industry.
Ultimately, her family was the most cherished part of her life. She truly enjoyed hosting everyone at her house for every holiday. The feasts she held will remain a treasured memory for her family and friends.
A wake will be held at Westchester Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 12, from 4 pm - 8 pm. A mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 8 Carman Road Scarsdale, New York 10583 on September 13th at 10:300am.
