Emerson James Mason, "Jim" 91, of Eastchester, formerly of Fresh Meadows, Queens, died on November 29, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. Beloved husband of the late Dixie Carlan Mason to whom he was married for 60 years. Loving father of Jeffrey Kirk Mason (Denise), Joan Mason Hogan (James M.), and the late James Carlan Mason (Jill). Dear brother of the late Harry Richard Mason. Cherished grandfather of James Carlan Mason, Jr., Jennifer Mason Chalos (Mark), Brian Jeffrey Mason (Sarah), Meredith Joan Mason, Janine K. Franz (Anthony), Kirk Emerson Mason (Rosi), Trevor Richard Mason (Natalie), James Michael Hogan III (Chelsea), Jonathan Mason Hogan, Joseph Matthew Hogan and great grandchildren Madeline Joan Chalos, Dean Oliver Mason, Natalie Rose Franz, Ella Grace Mason, Corina James Chalos, and Matthew James Mason. Uncle of Linda Mason Davidson, Clifford Mason, Robert Buck and the late Harry Mason. Jim served in the Army Air Corps enlisted reserve from 1944-1945. He worked for 42 years as a Mechanical Foreman for American Airlines at JFK and LaGuardia Airports, where he made many lifelong friends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Queens. After retiring he did everything with the love of his life Dixie. Jim enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and supported his grandchildren by spending time at all of their sporting events. He dedicated his life to his wife and his family. Also known to many as "Pop" he was well respected and loved by all who knew him. The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. EASTCHESTER, Friday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 4pm. Interment is private.
