Elizabeth Gillis Daley, 77, unexpectedly died at her home in Mt. Vernon, NY, on July 16, 2012. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Eugene Finnegan of New Canaan, CT, her brother Thomas Jr. of Bronxvile, NY and her brother and sister in law Cornelius J and Lisa G. Daley of Hopewell Junction, NY. In addition she is survived by two nieces and four nephews.
Miss Daley had a varied career throughout her life before receiving degrees in special education from the College of New Rochelle, Pace University, and Georgetown University. Ms. Daley went to Ghana, for two years, as a volunteer working for the Medical Missionary. After her return she worked for many years at March of Dimes and then as a teacher of special education in Washington D.C and NY.
Miss Daley retired recently from United Cerebral Palsy School of New York where she was a teacher of special education for 15 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday July 20th at 9:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe. Interment to follow at Holy Mount Cemetery.
