Obituary for Concetta A. Celestino (Bassi)

Concetta A. (Connie) Celestino (Nee Bassi),A longtime resident of Tuckahoe, died on Nov. 19, 2013 at the Schaffer Extended Care Center at Montefiore- New Rochelle at the age of 98. She was born on January 3, 1915 in Veroli, Italy, (Province of Frosinone) to the late Emilio and Marietta (Palma) Bassi. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 5. Concetta attended the Tuckahoe Schools and graduated from Our Lady of Victory Secretarial School in Mt. Vernon in 1934. On June 28, 1936 she married Augustino A. Celestino at the Church of the Assumption . Her husband died on September 23, 1978. Loving mother of William N. Celestino of Congers, Thomas P. Celestino and his wife Michele of Scarsdale and James F. Celestino of Tuckahoe. Cherished grandmother of Jerome Peter Celestino and Dana Rose Celestino. Fond Great Grandmother of Gabriella Celestino and Carina Celestino. Dear sister of Julia Bassi Jackubiak, Florence Bassi Neumann and her husband Gareth and Raymond Bassi Sr. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elena Bassi Spencer, Yolanda Bassi Denti, Rubina Bassi Petrucelli, Gulia Bassi, Alfred Bassi, and Paul Bassi. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Concetta was a 50 year member of the Choir at the Assumption Church and a member of the Alter Rosary Society at the Assumption. She was a longtime member of the Tuckahoe Seniors. Friends will gather at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. 190 Main St. EASTCHESTER on Thursday November 21, 2013 from 2-5 and 7-9 PM. A mass of the Requiem will be celebrated on Friday November 22, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Church of The Assumption, Tuckahoe. Entombment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery Mausoleum in Hartsdale.
