Obituary for Anthony Mignardi

Anthony Mignardi
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Anthony Mignardi (Tony) of Bronxville, NY on Friday, September 3, 2021. Tony peacefully passed away after battling COVID-19 for several weeks.

He was born on February 18, 1954 to his parents Mario and Olga Mignardi in the rural hills of Veroli, Italy. In 1966, Tony uprooted along with his mother, sister, Patricia and late father to the United States; the land of opportunity, which he loved and deeply cherished. In 2001, Tony and his former wife, Loraine Izzo welcomed their only son, John Dominick into this world, who he loved more than life itself.

Tony resided in Tuckahoe for 40 years, while working and serving the community as an optician. He cared for his patients in several locations such as County Optical, Mount Vernon Eye Care, Larchmont Vision Care, and Bronxville Vision Care just to name a few. Tony took pride and joy in his profession and sought to improve the vision of others. He was passionate about photography, having always been the man behind the camera. Tony was an active and vivid member of the community, who served as a former President of the Mount Vernon Rotary Club, and a member of the Lion’s Club and Opticians of America.

Anyone who has ever met Tony, knows that he was passionate about life and young in heart. He loved life and lived every last drop to the fullest. Tony loved everyone and everyone loved Tony….simple as that. Tony was the brightest light at any gathering, and too many he was the life of the party. He was a mentor, a confident, a friend, but never ones foe. As Tony would say “ I never met a person I didn’t like”.

Tony is survived in legacy by his only son, John Dominick; loving mother, Olga Mignardi; sister, Patricia Papetti; brother-in-law, Sergio Papetti; 3 nieces Stephanie, Angela and Christina; former wife Lorraine, and host of loving uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends. Tony is preceded in death by his father, Mario Mignardi.

Family and friends may pay their respects to the The Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main Street, Eastchester, on Monday, September 6th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm. Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception, 53 Winterhill Road, Tuckahoe on Tuesday, September 7th at 9:30am. Interment will follow at the The Gate of Heaven, 10 W Stevens Ave., Valhalla.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the American Foundation for the Blind at afb.org.

May you Rest In Peace, Tony Mignardi - you will be deeply missed by all - we love you more than words can express.
