Obituary for James Warren LeRay

James Warren  LeRay
James W. LeRay, 75, of Eastchester passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on February 6th, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in White Plains on April 22nd, 1948 to the late Warren and Rita LeRay. He married Roxanne (DeLucia) at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale on July 31st, 1982. Mr. LeRay worked as a public elementary school teacher for 41 years, including 31 at Lincoln Elementary School in Mt. Vernon. He was a United States Army veteran who served in Vietnam as a chaplain’s assistant from 1969-1971. He is survived by his wife Roxanne; a son Andrew (Krista) LeRay of Westport, CT; a daughter Allison (Tony) Panio of Hartsdale, NY; Three grandchildren Abigail and Amelia Panio, and Pierce LeRay. Visitation will be held at Westchester Funeral Home, Eastchester on Saturday February 10th, 2024, from 3-7pm. Funeral mass to take place Monday February 12th, 2024 at 10 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scarsdale. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne. Mr. LeRay was an advocate for the developmentally disabled. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Special Olympics.
