Burton Kaufman - 10/03/1930-10/04/2017
Resident of Westchester for nearly 70 years, he was born into a large family and raised in Ossining, N.Y. He is survived by his wife Sylvia and stepson Steven Fumuso, daughter-in- law Donna, four brothers- Martin, Jack, Leon and Bruce, all of Florida, a sister Eleanor, in Pennsylvania, and predeceased by a sister, May. Served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1952-1954 and was very proud of his service to the country. In 1962, he opened “Mr Burt,” a dry cleaning store in Eastchester N.Y., which was a local fixture for 33 years. Burt employed many Eastchester teens who remained close to Burt into their adult years. He was an active member of the Eastchester community and served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, was a member of B’nai Brith and several other service organizations. He was instrumental in the construction of Memorial Park in Eastchester. Burt and Sylvia retired to Wynmoor in Coconut Creek, Florida where he was an avid golfer and swimmer. Burt will be remembered for his generosity, outgoing personality, his big smile and infectious laugh. Services will be graveside at Sharon Gardens, Monday, October 9, 2017.
