Obituary for Dominic Anthony Cecere

Dominic Anthony Cecere
Dominic Anthony Cecere, 75, of Eastchester died on April 1, 2017. Beloved husband of Lyn Cecere. Loving father of Thomas (Melanie), Dominic (Christine), and Michael (Laurie) Cecere. Cherished grandfather of Katelyn, Jack and Dylan Cecere. Dear brother of Thomas (Cheryl) Cecere. Beloved uncle of Dr. Thomas (Julie) Cecere, Will (Katie) Cecere, and Leann (Kyle) Johnston and their families.
Dom graduated from Pelham Memorial High School and New York University where he met his beloved wife and best friend Lyn. He retired as Athletic Director of Eastchester High School but continued coaching his beloved sport of baseball into his 53rd season.
Included among his many accolades were League and Sectional Championships, entrance into the Westchester Sports Hall of Fame, New York State Baseball Hall of Fame and National High School Baseball Coach of the Year.
He loved his time with his wife and sons but most cherished his time with his grandchildren at Juniper Hill and showing and teaching them about his beloved Lake George. The countless lives on which he had a positive influence are a testament to his firm belief that teaching and coaching are transformative vocations and he used both in teaching life long lessons to all.
The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. EASTCHESTER Monday April 3rd 2-4 and 7-9pm, and Tuesday April 4th 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe, on Wednesday April 5th at 9:15am. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute to Dom Cecere Play for 10 Foundation, c/o John Doherty, 180 Lakeview Avenue, Scarsdale, NY 10583 or EVAC, 257 Main St, Eastchester, NY 10709.
