John Persico, longtime resident of Eastchester, NY died on September 8, 2015 at the age of 88 years old. He was born on August 3, 1927 in Somendenna, Italy before coming to Mt. Vernon, NY in 1955. He owned his own landscaping business with his wife for over forty years.
He was the beloved husband of Therese (Resi) for 55 wonderful years. Cherished father of three children, Gilda (Jorge) Severiano, John (Christa) Persico, and Susan Persico. Adored Nonno of six grandchildren; Lauren, Gabrielle, and Alexander Severiano, and Jack, Anna, and Cara Persico, who were his greatest joy.
He was the eighth of twelve children and is survived by his sister Maria Gherardi of Mt. Vernon, and brother Mario Persico of Somendenna, and loving uncle of numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A lover of soccer (Atalanta, AC Milan), Pavarotti, animals, and gardening, his happiest days were spent with his large extended family.
His visitation will be held at the Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main Street, Eastchester, NY 10709 on Friday, September 11, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 10:30 am, at Immaculate Conception Church, 53 Winter Hill Road, Tuckahoe, NY 10707 with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Valhalla.
