Between rounds.

A year ago today (09/08/2012) at 131 Dragway in Martin Michigan I shared some time with Pop between rounds. It was my son Brandon's Birthday and Sr.,Jr, and Dom had let Brandon sit in the car for the warm up. Though we talked about many of the things you would expect like cars, racing, and nostalgic memories....the part that stands out and that I would like to share is this. We discussed families and how important they are. At some point I mentioned how much I loved my son Brandon and my daughter Morgan Jade and he said this. He said how much he loved his children and how proud of them he was. I told him how I respect Bobby Jr. and Dom and how honored I was to have the friendship of his sons. He flashed that smile and said Oh yes I am so proud of my boys and girls. He then went on to ask me if I had ever met his daughters. I said I thought maybe I had But wasn't sure. He went on to say how proud of them he was and how lucky he felt to have such wonderful children. He said how much it meant to him to have a family that allowed him to do what he loved. And while I am stating the obvious. It was clear, as much as Sr. loved drag racing, he loved his family more. And he made sure that I understood no matter what my dreams were, that family was the most important thing. It was a moment I will cherish and I will never forget. I will miss those talks with you Pop, I will truly miss you. All my love to everyone, Family, and friends.
