Obituary for Thomas Lagala

Thomas Albert Lagala, known as Tom and Tommy, passed away on September 21, 2023, at the age of 92 in Eastchester, NY. Born on August 20, 1931, in New Rochelle, NY, Tom was an entrepreneur and business owner of many successful ventures throughout his career. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie Lagala.
Tom and his beloved wife, Marjorie, had no children of their own but had many nieces and nephews to whom he was uncle, father figure, friend, advisor and family Santa Claus. Tom is survived by his many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.
Tom and Marjorie were an excellent team as bowlers and Bridge players. Tom had a passion for collecting stamps and coins, as well as selling estate items at flea markets. His hobbies and passions brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his interests. They owned and ran a bungalow colony in The Catskills for many years. Tom was a self-taught businessman, mechanic, carpenter and electrician using all these skills to run and maintain his many businesses. He was also a top-notch salesman. He was strong and powerful as a bull. Tom’s most favorite business and personal endeavor was the yearly conversion of his Brooklyn storefront shop into a Christmas decoration shop, selling everything needed for Christmas home decorating - artificial Christmas trees, lights, garlands and all the “jingy-jongs”.
In addition to his professional accomplishments and hobbies, Tom had a warm and caring personality. He was known for his kindness and generosity towards his family and others. Those who knew him will remember his gentle nature, his funny sense of humor (Tom knew everything and was always right - just ask him and he would tell you so), and his willingness always to lend a helping hand, no matter where or when.
The memory of Tom Lagala will be cherished by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, his love for collecting, and his kind-hearted nature.
We all love you. Rest in peace.
