Obituary for Peter Lawrence Nurzia

Peter Lawrence Nurzia, of Eastchester, N.Y., 60, died suddenly on September 5. The second of two children born to Antonina and Antonio Nurzia, he grew up in Eastchester and graduated from Fordham University in 1985.
After earning a J.D. at Pace University, he worked tirelessly to develop The Law Offices of Peter L. Nurzia, P.C., specializing in estate planning and real estate transactions. While his life ended far too soon, Peter’s impact will be felt for years to come. He was an active member of his community, coaching youth soccer and serving on the Town of Eastchester Zoning Board.
Peter was a devoted and dedicated father and husband, whose family was everything to him. He married the love of his life, Mary Solano, in December 1993. Together, they raised three children, Christian, Lauren, and Bethany, with unconditional love and care. His family was the most important thing in his life, and he worked very hard to provide for them.
A humble man of principle who truly cared about others, he had a kind and generous heart and strong Catholic faith, with a special devotion to St. Joseph. His dynamic spirit touched each of our lives, instantly lighting up a room with humor and fun. His signature gift of joy and constant smiling, laughter, and joking around will never be forgotten. Peter was the first at family celebrations to offer a toast, incorporating his dry sense of humor and quick wit. He had a permanent twinkle in his eye that invited anyone in his presence to smile in return.
Peter enjoyed Sunday family dinners, ski trips to Lake Placid, and cheering on his children during soccer games. He had a passion for watching sports, especially international soccer, and particularly enjoyed seeing the underdog win. A history expert who especially enjoyed reading about World War II, he most loved time spent with family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
He was greeted in heaven by his father, Antonio Nurzia, and his father-in-law, Antonio Solano. He is survived by his mother, Antonina Nurzia; his wife, Mary, and three children, Christian, Lauren, and Bethany; his sister, Rita (Ken) Williams; mother-in-law, Alba Solano; Anthony (Lauren) Solano, Antonella (Thomas) Knoeller, Paul (Allison) Solano, and beloved nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear friends.
Peter and his family recently celebrated his 60th birthday with a long-awaited trip to Yellowstone National Park, which he called “God’s Country.” His wife and children will hold special memories of this beautiful trip in their hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yellowstone Forever. https://www.yellowstone.org/
