Obituary for Peter Ansah
The Bishop Dr. Peter Owusu Ansah was promoted to eternal glory in Heaven with Jesus on May 27, 2021. We lost a great pillar of faith in our national and international community.
Bishop Dr. Peter Owusu Ansah was loyal, sweet, loving, funny and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Though his wife Pastor Theresa "Tess" Owusu Ansah entered into her glory six years ago, he continued to love her, the four daughters she birthed, their husbands "sons", grandchildren and the many souls God gave him to watch over. He continued to support the work Tess left behind. Though widowed he was married for 46 years.
Peter is survived by his children; Emma, Ruthfaith, Priscilla and Maryanna; his grandchildren, Zachariah, Noa Grace, Rhys, Tahari, IBW; and many, many loving brothers and sisters. He is predeceased by his dear wife, Theresa; his father Kwaku Afriyie and his mother Amma Dapaah.
Peter was born in Kumasi, Ghana on June 18, 1948. He began his engineering education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. After two years of working as a principle of a college, he left Ghana for the US and continued his education at City College of NY. He received his Bachelors and his Masters and soon after was employed at the company we now know as National Grid; as an Associate Engineer in the planning department. He was able to receive tuition assistance through the company and chose to pursue his PHD in electrical engineering at University of New York.
On 7/27/1975 he married Theresa and they welcomed four precious daughters during their marriage.
Peter was a devoted Bishop and enjoyed preaching the gospel at every moment. He would use any opportunity to talk about the goodness of Jesus. He was funny and you would often find yourself in a fit of laughter whenever you were around him. Peter was also very intelligent and would often give his daughters assignments to do on the weekend even though they already had homework. He had a way of making you feel at ease when around him and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
