Obituary for Genevieve Calvao
Genevieve Calvao 93 "Genoveva", a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon and Yonkers, N.Y., passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023.
She was born to Joaquim and Julia Delgado in Cape Verde on December 6, 1929. Genoveva moved to the USA as a young child and eventually met Justo Calvao later in life who she wed in 1972. They stayed together splitting their time between NY and Portugal until his passing in 2013.
Although Genoveva and Justo never had kids of their own, they were the adopted Aunt and Uncle for the many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and godchildren. Their home was always open to all, and the extended family was their number one priority and joy in life.
As per her wishes, there will be no wake, but we will celebrate a Mass on Friday, June 13, 2023, at 10:00am at Our Lady of Fatima, Yonkers with the interment to follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery next to her parents' resting place.
In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. https://www.cancer.org/
