Obituary for Frank Joseph Reda

Frank J. Reda age 91 of Yonkers NY passed away Friday January 5, 2024 of natural causes. Frank is survived by his wife Adrienne, his son Frank and predeceased daughter and son Janis and Clifford. Frank's grandchildren, Jaime, Jennie, Nicholas, Cordie, Blake and Clifford, 8 great grandchildren along with his sisters Rosemarie (predeceased) and Dolores, and his sister-in-law Rose (predeceased). Frank also was close with his nieces and nephews, Joseph (predeceased), Lynne, Michael, Dianne, Frank, Deborah and Donna and their families.

Frank was born and raised in the Bronx with his two sisters, Rosemarie and Dolores and as a young teen lived part time on his family's farm in La Grange, NY. After returning to the Bronx, he attended Columbus High School. He later joined the National Guard and became a pilot where he learned to fly with Major Archibald Smith who taught the Tuskegee AirMen and was always an enthusiast. He flew seaplanes and charter flights throughout NY and Washington DC. It was then he married his wife of 64 years Adrienne.

Frank worked in demolition and was a heavy equipment operator mostly running cranes. He was often on the news while taking down collapsed buildings or working with special effects crews on movies like Ghostbusters, Batteries not Included and Wolfen. He enjoyed his work and always said if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life.

Frank also owned several businesses including two deli’s in the Bronx, a car wash in Brooklyn, an oil delivery service, a tavern in Fishkill NY , a breakfast café and a restaurant / lounge in Hilton Head, SC. He always stepped up to a challenge and was an excellent role model.

His hobbies were hunting , fishing and boating but mostly spending time with his family.
