Walter F. Salomone of Tuckahoe, New York passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the age of 70. He was born on January 30th 1949 in the town of Cetraro in Calabria, Italy to Florindo and Maria (Sandonato) Salomone. After serving in the United States Army in Korea (1967-1969), he began a long career for New York City at the Department of Information Technology and Telecom. On March 17, 1974 he married the love of his life MaryAnn Bruno and created a beautiful world for every one they touched. In addition, he worked for many years at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut. Walter spent his best days cooking, watching tennis, playing billiards and spending time with his family. He is predeceased by his brother, Jack Salomone. Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Salomone, sons Frank Salomone and Nicholas (Jacqueline) Salomone. He was the treasured grandfather “Poppy” of Martina Salomone and Sonia Salomone. Walter is also survived by his sister Lorrie (Antonio) Villalba, brother Pierre (Lynda) Salomone and many other dear family members and friends.
Please join us in celebrating Walter’s life at Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Main St, Eastchester, NY 10707 on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Walter at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 10:30 AM and will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
