Salvatore Garozzo, son of Michael and Rosaria Garozzo, brother of Alfio (Concettina) Garozzo and Santina (Lucio) Finocchiaro, born in Piedimonte Eteneo on November 10, 1937 passed away on March 24, 2021 at the age of 83. He was a devoted, proud and beloved husband, father and nonno and is survived by his wife Isabella Garozzo (Intelisano) and children Rosaria (John) Gaitanis, Michael (Sandra) Garozzo and Salvatore (Heather) Garozzo and his grandchildren Isabella, Matthew, Sebastian and Serafina as well as his nephew Salvatore Finocchiaro and nieces and nephew in Australia Sarina, Michael and Tina Garozzo and all his many dear cousins in the United States, Sicily and Australia as well as friends, in-laws and neighbors that have become family.
At the age of 15 Sal immigrated to the United States from Sicily on the ship Vulcania and arrived in New York Harbor on Dec 31st, 1952 and settled in the Bronx until he moved to Eastchester in 1993 where he resided for the rest of his life. Upon arriving to the US, he started working at a pastry shop where he learned to bake many of the special pastries he was known for making and giving out during the holidays. He then began a 35 year career with Con Edison where he worked his way up to supervisor.
He was a hard worker and dedicated his life to his family and made a beautiful life for them. He was also known for his love of his garden and harvesting of a wide array of fruit and vegetables such as tomatoes, cucuzzas, beans, eggplants, lemons and cucumbers that he enjoyed giving out to friends and family. On any given summer day you would find him in the garden, this was his happy place. He had an incredible gift of being able to remember exact dates and specific details of even the most mundane events dating over 50 years back. Those who knew him, knew he was a kind, gentle, and caring man. He was greatly loved by his family and will be missed dearly.

In qualsiasi giorno d''estate lo avresti trovato in giardino, questo era il suo posto felice. Aveva un dono incredibile di essere in grado di ricordare date esatte e dettagli specifici anche degli eventi più banali risalenti a oltre 50 anni fa. Coloro che lo conoscevano, sapevano che era un uomo gentile, gentile e premuroso. Era molto amato dalla sua famiglia e ci mancherà moltissimo.
