Obituary

Obituary for Ronald Lockhart

Ronald S. Lockhart, 88, passed away peacefully at home on April 10th, of complications following a fall. A lifelong resident of Eastchester, he was the son of the late Morrell and Evelyn Lockhart.
Ron attended Eastchester public schools and was a proud Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and was a graduate of Cornell Law School. He married Dianne Bishop in 1954 and they raised their four children in Eastchester; she predeceased him in 2002. He married Elizabeth (Foy) Delaney in 2003. He was a partner in the law firm of Alger, Andrew and Rohlfs, in New York City.
A beloved father and dedicated family man, he was active in scouting, coached his kids’ softball teams and ran the Myrtle Place nightly hit-the-bat and kickball games. Like many in his family, he believed in community service and public education, and served on both the Eastchester School Board and the BOCES Southern Westchester School Board for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and his children: Joan Lockhart of Eastham, MA; Judith Lockhart of Tuckahoe, NY; Susan Lockhart (Stephen Jambor) of Brewster, NY; Kenneth Lockhart (Amelyn) of New City, NY; and a stepson, Thomas Foy (Sharon), of England. He was the loving “PopPop” to Matthew Lockhart (Christine Baldwin), Jason Lockhart and Ryan Lockhart; Marissa Jambor Shipe (Eric); and Emma Walsh and Andrew Walsh; and Amelyn’s four children. He adored his great grandchildren, Emily, Charlotte and Olivia Shipe and Liam Lockhart. Additionally, he had a loving extended family of sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and Foy family grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, here and “across the pond” in England and Ireland.
He is also survived by his sister, Janet Yurenka and was predeceased by his brother, Robert Lockhart, both of Michigan.
He was a kind and generous man who would want nothing more than to be remembered by a simple act of kindness within your community. And maybe, that you call someone by the name Sam, Max or Charlie -- just for the fun of it

Mary

We are so sorry for your loss. The death of a love one can be extremely difficult to cope with. Many have found comfort in the promise found there at Acts 24:15. There it speaks about the Resurrection. Do draw comfort in the promise found there and please know you and your family will be in our prayers...MaryAnn
