Obituary for Ronald Holmes Kemly, Sr.

Ronald Holmes Kemly of Naples, FL and Stone Harbor, NJ passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on November 7, 2021. He was surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer illness related to his work at The World Trade Center on September 11 and the cleanup there after. He was born at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on September 1, 1947 to Raymond E. Kemly Sr. and Emma E. Kemly and grew up in the Bronx. He graduated from Fordham Preparatory School in 1965. He also graduated from John Jay College with a degree in Criminal Justice. He became a Firefighter in The City of New York, for 39 years, climbing the ranks to Battalion Chief.

Ron met his beloved wife of 53 years in 1968. They settled down in Eastchester where they raised a daughter and a son. They loved hosting holidays and events for extended family and close friends and the door was always unlocked. His favorite time spent was with his family at the shore, hanging on the beach or barbecuing in the backyard.

Ron loved sports. He played baseball and swam in his childhood. He was a track star at Fordham Prep where he also played football. He played on the inaugural FDNY Football team, The Archer Rams and The Cabin Football Teams and many softball teams. He was a coach in Eastchester in many youth leagues including Eastchester Blue Devils, Eastchester Little League and Pony Colt League and Eastchester Youth Soccer. He went to as many games or events as possible to see his children or grandchildren play. He was an avid golfer and played as often as he could.

He is survived by his wife Theresa (nee Hickey),and his two children, Shannon (Angelo) Riccio, and Ronald Jr (Alyson) Kemly; and grandchildren, Danny and Lucy Riccio and Ronny III and Abby Kemly; Brother Raymond E. (Gail) Kemly Jr. He is also survived by Rebecca Murray and family and many other family members and friends he thought of as family.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2021, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at THE WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC., EASTCHESTER.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe.
