Obituary for Richard D Berardi

Richard D. Berardi, Sr., 93, lifelong resident of Tuckahoe, beloved husband, father, grandfather, big brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, grandpaw, passed away peacefully on what would have been his 72nd wedding anniversary, September 16, 2022, with his daughter Suzanne M. Berardi-Andolina by his side. Predeceased by his one true love, Josephine (Jo) Solensky of Eastchester. He is the beloved father of CarolAnn Berardi of Cincinnati OH, Dr. Richard Berardi (Anne) of Summit, NJ, and Suzanne M. Berardi-Andolina of South Salem, NY. Cherished grandfather of Michael R., David R., and John R. Berardi. Grandpaw to Maxwell Richard Jr. Dear brother of Arnold V. Berardi (predeceased), Pelham, NY; Lois Benvenuto (Salvatore), Yonkers, NY; and Robert G. Berardi (Diane), Denver, PA.
Richard married Jo at Immaculate Conception Church September 16, 1950. He was a lifelong resident of Tuckahoe, NY. Built homes in Tuckahoe and Eastchester with his father, Goffredo. He built the house he had been living in for 59 years. He loved playing the accordion and singing at parties and weddings during WWII for families and friends.
He served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers 1950-1953. He taught construction to his Battalion and was stationed in Europe. While raising his family he was active within the Assumption Church parish. He was a Building Inspector, Assessor, Trustee for the Village of Tuckahoe and Senior Code Enforcement Officer with the City of White Plains Department of buildings for 26 years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 8:30 - 10:00 am at the Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester, NY followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, NY. Entombment at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
