Obituary for Prodromos Antoniou

Prodromos “Tony” Iacovou Antoniou, was a beloved Husband, Father, Pappou (Grandfather), Brother and friend, passed away on the late evening of May 4, 2020 at the young age of 69.

Born on March 5, 1951 in Kornos, Cyprus to the late Iacovou and Maria Antoniou. He served Honorably in the Cypriot Army in the Special Forces Division from 1969-1971. He is one of 6 siblings. Tony immigrated to the United States in approximately 1972. He lived in Kingston, NY where he met and married his wife, before eventually becoming a longtime resident and restaurateur in Yonkers, NY.

He is survived by his loving wife, Stavroula “Voula”, of 45 years and was a devoted Father to Emmanuel and Maria. He is the highly cherished Pappou of Niko, Alex, and Valentina.

Tony most enjoyed spending time with his family, making his grandsons laugh, cooking, home renovation (fixing anything and everything at home) and watching soccer games.

Tony was a very special person and touched the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his hard work, sense of humor, dedication and compassion. His heart was pure and honest. He lived his life dedicated to the love of his family, as he always put family first.

He will forever be in our hearts. We will continue sharing memories of him with his grandchildren, for they loved and admired him in the little time they were able to know him. We will celebrate Tony’s life on his birthday, during road trips to the Poconos and Canada, while watching and playing soccer with the grandkids, while vacationing in Cyprus and everyday his memory enters our hearts.

May God watch over his soul and accept him into Heaven. Rest In Peace!
