Obituary for Phyliss Maturo Shaw

Phyliss Shaw, 83, of New Rochelle, New York (formerly Pelham) passed on January 6, 2020. Loving wife of Lawrence Shaw, and devoted mother to David, Susan (Ayson), and Christopher. The joys of her life were her grandchildren Jillian, Christopher and Miles. Phyliss was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on January 28, 1937. She was the daughter of Nicholas Maturo and Teresa (Biondi) Maturo. She was predeceased by her sister Carmela (Maturo) Ingala and brother John Maturo. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who adored their “Aunt Phyl”.

As anyone who knew her would attest, Phyliss was devoted to her faith and family. Her door was always open to anyone who wanted to drop in for one of her famous home cooked meals (her meatballs were legendary). She got the most joy in life from her family, friends, music, and dancing. It was through this love that she met Larry who was playing piano at a local dance in their hometown of Waterbury Connecticut. Her love of music and the arts (as well as Larry’s) was passed on to her children who all play, perform and listen to music with a passion.

She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends.
