Obituary for Peter Patrick Gallo

Peter Patrick Gallo, 101, of Tuckahoe, New York and Toms River, New Jersey was born on March 1, 1922 to Pasquale and Angelina Gallo. He passed away peacefully on January 25, 2024 in Coral Springs, Florida. Peter was born in Tuckahoe, New York and was one of seven children (Larry, John, Carmen, Lucie, Theresa and Millie (all preceded in death)). Peter is survived by his son Peter and his wife Susan, his granddaughters Lauren Ziady (Eric) and Andrea Sommers (Shawn) and his five great-grandchildren Matthew, Lindsey, and Courtney Ziady and Ryan and Robbie Sommers.
Peter grew up on Maynard Street in Tuckahoe and graduated from Tuckahoe High School before serving in the United States Army during World War ll. After the war he was honorably discharged from the Armed Services and went to work at De Lackner Helicopter in Yonkers, NY for over forty years. Peter was a Foreman, supervising the production of machine parts for the government including the prototype for one-manned helicopters, interior hatches for submarines and parts for the first lunar lander.
Peter was married to Norma Gallo (Cirrincione) (predeceased), the love of his life and lived in Tuckahoe where they raised their son Peter. He enjoyed taking weekend drives to Valhalla Dam, Bear Mountain and other special places of interest. Most weekend mornings he could be found on Maynard Street with all of his brothers and cousins cleaning and working on their cars. Sundays after church were always spent visiting family members who all lived in the Tuckahoe area.
After retirement Peter and Norma moved to Toms River, NJ to be near Peter, Susan and their granddaughters Lauren and Andrea. There they enjoyed the retirement community life and Peter enjoyed weekly golf outings with his friends. He was known throughout the community as the person to call when you needed something repaired. He enjoyed helping people, golfing, cooking, talking politics and being with his family. He was quick witted and always had a welcoming smile. He continued to play golf until he was 98 and could always shoot his age! He enjoyed life and was always happy around family.
He spent the last five years of his life living in Coral Springs, FL with Peter and Susan. He enjoyed the warm weather and spent many hours on the patio working puzzles and building projects.
