Obituary for Nancy Mojica (Padilla)

On January 19, 2024, we said goodbye to our beloved mother Nancy Mojica. Nancy went peacefully in her home with her family. Nancy was 76 years old. She was born in New York July 18, 1947, to Armando and Emilia Padilla. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx in 1966. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother. Later in life she was a dedicated paraprofessional at St. Raymond’s Elementary School, Bronx New York. For twenty plus years “Miss Nancy” took pride in helping her students with their reading and assisting her 1st grade teachers. Every holiday season she would come home with tons of gifts from her loving students.
On February 11, 1967, she married Jose Mojica at St. Anselms Church in the Bronx. Together they had two wonderful children: Joseph (Dawn) Mojica of San Tan Valley, Arizona and Michelle (Charlie) Bergmann of Ridgefield, Connecticut.
Nancy was a lover of reading and music. Music was always played throughout the house and her love of singing always filled the air. As a child she auditioned to sing background vocals in the Frank Sinatra song “Oops There Goes Another Rubber Tree Plant”. Nancy was also a lover of animals, she took such pride in the rescue of her pets and fostering. Nancy was known to have an aura that would draw people to her. She always had a kind smile and open ear to anyone around her. Her devotion to God was the center of her strength which aided her during her last months of life.
Nancy was the most loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. Always willing to give a hug, a kiss or words of encouragement and love. Her presence will be terribly missed but will live eternally in our hearts.
In addition to her two children Nancy is survived by her grandchildren, whom she adored, Joshua (fiancé Carmen) Mojica, Noah Mojica, Julia Bergmann and Daniel Bergmann. Sister Emily Pinion, sister Josephine Balinakos and brother Armando (America) Padilla. She also had multiple nieces and nephews.
