Condolences & Tributes

Saturday, October 10, 2010
Thank you to the Myles J. Ambrose, Jr universe--all of you who spoke so lovingly at his service yesterday, participated by Zoom, sent us notes, worked with him, were mentored by him, keep VW auto parts and other detritus in your garage or basement (still) for him, were inspired by him or laughed with him backstage. A special thanks to his four stepchildren who spent countless hours helping craft the moving tribute to Myles--Rachel Coursey Holmes, Sarah Coursey, Amy Kavana Cassidy, Tom Kavana. He poured so much into so many it makes me pause and wonder how deep was that well. Truly humbling and inspiring.

Godspeed Brother.

Love,

Kathleen

Boy is this a shock, I only knew Myles as a friend that used to hang out at my house with John Mallen and the "Drifting Shifter's" car club. My condolences to the family. I am sorry I did not know more about his life, I knew him as a nice guy easy to talk with. Sometimes he would stop in out of nowhere and I always enjoyed seeing him. I am sure he will be missed a lot.

I was deeply saddened to hear this news. Myles and I shared many years at the Philharmonic. He was a star member of a Rolls Royce crew. Always ready to help with a witticism added for good measure. May your memories be blessings. Irene Breslaw Assistant Principal Viola, NYP, Ret.

I met Myles at Fordham(!) and worked for him at Theater Sound. Myles was smart, curious, energetic, imaginative and generous. I am lucky to have known him. I grieve for your loss.

I was so sad to learn about Myles' passing much too soon. It was always great to see Myles backstage at Geffen Hall. He was always cheerful and helpful with whatever I needed onstage. He loved to talk about his beloved VW. Myles was also generous with his time. When my dog's legs started to fail, I bought a flexible flyer wagon, but couldn't figure out how to assemble it. After a few conversations with Myles, he offered to come over and put it together, and I was thoroughly impressed with how quickly he assembled it without once looking at the directions. Myles was a wonderful person, and I will miss him.

Dear Myles,
You will be greatly missed by all of us at the New York Philharmonic and on the stage of David Geffen Hall. I will miss your warmth, humor and professionalism, and your caring spirit. You always took the time to ask how I was doing, no matter what you were involved with doing on the stage or back stage, and you always had an uplifting word of encouragement no matter how you were you feeling. Thank you for sharing the stage with us, and your expertise and knowledge. This part of your journey is over, and now you can have a short rest until you take up the next stage to your blessed reward. Godspeed!

Jeannine and I would like to express our condolences to the Ambrose and Coursey families over the sudden loss of Myles. We have known him since our years at Manhattan College and later on at Theater Sound. He was an unique individual who provided us with some interesting experiences. Our prayers are with you in your loss.

Knowing Myles has always been a joy and a gift. I first met Myles in 6th grade. His sense of humor and his curiosity about mechanical things was always intriguing to me. He seemed to have a never ending desire to learn about the world. I loved him like a brother. There have only been two people in my life that I have felt that way about and Myles was and is one of them. Rest in peace my old friend. Love, Mike
