Obituary for Michael Latora

Michael Latora passed away peacefully at his home in Harrison, New York on September 16, 2020. He was 90.
Michael lived his life with honor and integrity. He served in the United States Army as a Master Sergeant from 1948 through 1951. As a youth, Michael was an accomplished amateur light heavy weight boxer. Most of his bouts came during the days at the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx. He was also a professional singer during his early years, singing at Carnegie Hall and many clubs in Hollywood, California and New York City.
He went on to become a successful entrepreneur and business owner in the Bronx, NY. His television repair and rental businesses spanned the entire Bronx and parts of Westchester, earning him the title “King of the Bronx and lower Westchester”.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Sandra (Sandy) Latora. They shared a love affair for 36 years, traveling the world and making music together wherever they went. Nothing made Michael happier than being with his family, especially his three adoring grandchildren. They were longtime members of the Coveleigh Club in Rye, NY and Michael enjoyed golf at Lake Isle Club in Eastchester.
Michael is also survived by his son, Richard Latora, two step-sons, Richard and C. Jay Keller and their wives, Pam and Melissa. Michael was affectionately known by his grandchildren, Gabriel, Wyatt and Maia as Grand Pa Mike, all of whom he loved and touched deeply. Michael is predeceased by his first wife Mary Latora his brother Richard Latora, sister June Latora and daughter-in-law, Annie Latora.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, September 20 from 3-7pm at Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main Street, Eastchester, NY. Online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.westchesterfuneralhome.com. A private graveside service will be held on September 21 at Greenwood Union Cemetery. In remembrance of Michael Latora’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to PAL (Police Athletic League) or White Plains Hospital. The family will hold a celebration of Michael’s life when it is safe to gather again.
