Maria P. Summa of Eastchester, NY passed away on January 28, 2024, in the Bronx, NY.
Maria was born on November 2, 1933, in Vietri di Potenza, Italy, to Carmine Sausto and Maria Indaco Sausto. There she attained an 8th grade education. With only this, she came to New York on January 4, 1952. Through hard work and determination, Maria had a family, purchased a home and became a business owner when she acquired Hamilton Cleaners in Bronxville, NY in 1983. The business moved to Eastchester in 2004, and she and her nephew Rick Favata, continued the business established in 1930. The business was regarded by many as the premier location for care of fine clothing, which encompassed dry cleaning, Maria’s expert tailoring and a close personal relationship with the community.
Maria is survived by her eldest daughter, Geraldine “Dina” Summa, MD, her son, Patrick Summa, her grandchildren Christopher, Steven and Daniel Farina, her nephew Richard Favata, her nephew and niece, Raffaele Bravo and Pina Menza
