Obituary for Lucy Maraldo (Vallar)

Lucy Maraldo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend, passed away at the age of 81 on August 4, 2020. Lucy was born on January 12, 1939 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Vincent and Albertina Vallar. She attended Immaculata High School in New York City and later graduated with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Teaching from Fordham University. Lucy was a former teacher and staff developer with the New York City school system for thirty years. She enjoyed her summer trips to Italy, cooking, baking and singing in the church choir. Lucy was an active member of the Famee Furlane Club of New York and volunteered at her church and children’s schools. Her kind, gentle nature and loving personality touched everyone she met. She cared deeply about her family and friends, always ready to offer help, support and a delicious meal. Lucy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Vincent, daughter Vanessa Dioguardi and her husband Jed, her son, Vincent Maraldo and his wife Carla and her grandchildren, Jed, Matthew, Nicole, Kevin and Gina. She is also survived by her many cousins, extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family may donate to Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains or White Plains Hospital.
