Obituary for Louise Coleman (Casola)

Louise Coleman (Casola)
Louise Coleman passed peacefully on September 29, 2022. Louise was born in the Bronx, NY to Anthony and Theresa Casola. Dear sister of Carol Ciccone (Dominick Cristiano [dec], Dominic Ciccone [dec])
Louise was married to Albert Thomas Coleman (Tom) for 41 years and they grew roses together. Tom passed away 1993. Later on Louise had a partner named Jack Kellard for about 20 years; they shared a 2nd home in Florida and traveled the world until he passed in 2020.
Louise is survived by her children: Kathleen Coleman, Thomas A. Coleman, Glenn (Terri) Coleman; Dr. Christine Coleman-Feigenbaum (Howard).
Cherished Grandchildren: Joanne (James) Holmes, Thomas (Amanda) Coleman, Michele (Marcus) Mancuso, Brian Coleman, Chelsea (fiancé Kevin Mallon) Coleman, Julie Coleman, Nick (fiancé Wendy Temple) Feigenbaum, Kate Feigenbaum. And Great Grandchildren: Aiden and Emily Coleman
Louise lived a very enriched and full life. Besides raising a wonderful family, she had a long career as an Insurance Agent and Financial Planner. She was most passionate growing her roses at her home in Eastchester and exhibiting the perfectly formed blooms worldwide. Her garden consisted of 450 rose bushes of at least 50 different varieties. For more than 40 years, Louise was a member and author for the American Rose Society, President of the Westchester Rose Society, and wrote many articles for “The American Rose Magazine”. One memorable highlight is when she and husband Tom had tea with HRH Queen Elizabeth in the royal rose garden at Buckingham Palace.
Louise won dozens of trophies for “Queen of Show” and many awards. Most prestigious is her “Triple Play” winning ARS Gold Honor Medal, the Klima Medal and in 2019 received the Guy Blake Hedrick, Jr. Award celebrating her lifetime achievement for displaying outstanding volunteer skills in growing, exhibiting, judging and educating rosarians in the art of displaying and entering outstanding roses in rose shows.
In the front of Louise's home she grew a bed of roses for anyone to enjoy and cut some to take. Her generosity, kindness and strength was shared with her family and all who knew her. Although the beauty of a rose only blooms in spring and summer, the memory of Louise will always bloom in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. in Eastchester, NY. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday October 3, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, NY. Interment to follow at Holy Mount Cemetery.
