Laurie Verdisco was born October 28 1932 at Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, NY. Her parents, Anna and Samtine Verdisco, preceded her in death. Laurie attended Waverly Elementary School, Eastchester High School, Alfred University, and Columbia University School of Nursing. While at Columbia she received an MA in medical-surgical nursing, and upon graduation joined the faculty. Later she became Head of the Nursing Program. She received several teaching awards and the Columbia Alumni Federation’s highest honor, the Alumni Medal for service to the University.
