Obituary for Joseph Tavolilla

Joseph Tavolilla, a longtime resident of Tuckahoe, NY, passed away on April 22, 2020 at the age of 84. He was born in Ragusa, Sicily in 1935 to Giuseppe and Carmela Tavolilla and immigrated to the United States in 1953. He served honorably in the US Army Tank Division in Korea.
Joseph was the beloved husband of 39 years to the late Frances (Ciarlo) Tavolilla whom he married on May 20, 1961 at Assumption Church. He was a loving father to Joanne Roth (Vincent), Paul (Maria) Joseph M. (Christine). Beloved Grandfather to Paul Jr.(Megan), Adam, Frank, Julia, and Ryan Tavolilla. He was the devoted companion of 15 years to Rose (Cacciola) Tavolilla. He is predeceased by his dear brothers George (Antoniette), Salvatore (late Zina), and John (late Natalie).
Joseph owned and operated Tavol Auto Service in Tuckahoe with his family, which served the community for over 46 years. He had a passion for travel and enjoyed touring the country in his motorhome and spending time in his home in Texas.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers, doctors, nurses and first responders who compassionately cared for him during his illness. There will be a private graveside service to be held at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. A memorial Mass and gathering commemorating Joseph’s life will be held at a future date.
