Obituary for Joseph Macaluso
Joseph M. Macaluso of Crestwood, NY passed away on July 10th, 2021 at the age of 79. There will be a viewing on Friday, July 16th from 3 to 7pm at Westchester Funeral Home, and funeral services will follow at Annunciation Church in Crestwood on Saturday, July 17th at 10am.
He was born in 1942 to Ernest and Adelaide Macaluso, growing up in New York City along with his brother Vincent whom he loved and who preceded him in death. He worked in telecommunications where he met Mary Troy. They married in 1976, had two children, and made their home in Crestwood.
Joe is survived by his wife Mary (Troy), his children Joseph (Melissa) and Patricia Donahey (Adam), his grandchildren Patrick and Michael Macaluso and Andrew and Mary Donahey, his niece Andrea Gaspar, nephew Michael Macaluso, and sister-in-law Frances Macaluso.
Joe was known for his love of Cape Cod, fishing, and golf. However, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. Charming and gregarious, his greatest desire was the happiness of those closest to him. The meals he made and obsessed over were an expression of that love. He adored his grandchildren who loved him as their grandpa.
There is no way in a few lines to express the depth of the loss, or the hole left by his passing. Those fortunate to know him, know what kind of a person has left us. If we are fortunate, we will learn to love the people in our lives with a measure of the intensity with which he loved us.
