Obituary for Joseph A. Dorrian

Joseph Anthony Dorrian a 48 year resident of Scarsdale NY passed on July 17, 2019. He was a devoted husband, loving father and cherished friend to all he met. A 1953 graduate from All Hallows High School and a 1957 Fordham University graduate, Joe made his mark on Wall Street and on green fairways all around the world, most especially Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Ann Gill Dorrian, daughters Laura Albertson of Southbury CT, Mary-Jo McAvey of Fairfield CT, sons Patrick of Leesburg VA and Timothy of Scarsdale NY; Joseph is predeceased by son Joseph Jr. The devoted grandfather of 9 (Brody, Casey, Kaitlin, Colleen Riley, Vincent, Brian, Murphy, and Andrew) was the son of Irish immigrants James J & Mary E Dorrian.

Joe would read just about anything at anytime and love nothing more than a good laugh, a good story and a good cigar! He will be missed by all of his many friends and most especially by surviving brothers James and John, deceased sister Theresa and surviving sister Marie.

I cannot begin to describe what a wonderful person Joe was.
Complete with intelligence a great sense of humor and so enjoyable to be with . The Famous Grouse which has abouts 15 guys that got together every year to golf against the Brits had Joe as their poster boy. With his keen sense of humor and his competitive attitude he made our trips more enjoyable.
A professional in every way on a trading desk or on a golf course, he will be missed but remembered .

Joe Dorian was an outstanding member of the New York investment community , specializing in institutional block trading, highly respected in New York and Boston! Joe was a delightful charismatic man of intellect , humor and highly respected! He filled a room and had a welcoming personality. We always welcomed Joe to Boston even as a competitor! Many of us spent time with Joe on the golf course and had great adventures playing with The Famous Grouse here in the US and abroad .We loved Joe and express our deepest sympathy to his loving family .May God bless you all!
