It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph DeMealo announce his passing on Wednesday, August 5th. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 87. Joseph is the loving and devoted husband of wife and high school sweetheart Judy (Salerno) of 67 years. He is the adored father of his four children - Judith DeMealo, Jamie Nigro (Peter), Joseph DeMealo (Theresa) and Jill D’Agostino (Tony). He is the dear grandfather of seven grandchildren - Michael Sinatra, Peter Nigro Jr., Jacqueline Fraiolli (Dillon), Patrick Nigro, Nicole DeMealo, Daniella DeMealo, Nicholas D’Agostino, and great-grandfather of three - Paige Sinatra, Peter Nigro III and Evalynn Nigro.

Joseph was born on March 17, 1933 to Peter and Susie DeMealo. He is a lifelong resident of Eastchester, NY. He is the brother of Carol Palma, Barbara Belles and the late Jean Mariani. Those who know Joseph, knew how proud he was to be a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed sharing old Korean War stories and reminiscing of the good-old days. Joseph, a die-hard New York Yankees fan, never missed watching a game and didn’t leave home without wearing his Yankee cap. Joseph will be remembered for his kind-heartedness and selfless nature, tremendous strength and unconditional love for his family.
