John Francis Marocco, 68, of Eastchester, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022 of pneumonia with his wife by his side. Predeceased by his parents, John J. and Miriam S. Marocco, John is survived by his wife Glenis, sister Susan (Joel) Goren and brother Frank. Also survived by daughter Deborah and grandchildren Joshua and Julia Poppleton and many nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Eastchester High School, Class of ’72, and went out to explore the USA in his ’72 silver Gremlin. On his return he settled down to work for the Town of Eastchester Highway Dept. where he had many friends. John liked to stay local and hang out with friends at Pat’s Oakridge Bar in Eastchester. He met his future wife, Glenis (EHS, Class of ’74) at Pat’s.
John was a devoted family man who went out of his way to help family. He loved going to the Sawyer Family Reunions to see his Southern relatives. Atlantic City Casinos and just road trips made him happy. He also enjoyed classic rock, root beer and the Yankees. Most of all, he loved his daughter Deb and was a doting Grandpa to Josh and Julia and would do anything for them. John will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends at the Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. in Eastchester on Tuesday, January 25 from 4-8 pm, Roman Catholic funeral mass Wednesday January 26 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scarsdale followed by Interment at Holy Mount Cemetery.
