Obituary for John J. Cozza

John J. Cozza, 85, a long-time resident of Tuckahoe, passed away peacefully at his home in Hartsdale, NY on October 11, 2021. He was born to Gaetano and Concetta Cozza on January 27, 1936. After graduating Eastchester High School, he became a landscaper and opened his own business which he operated for over 40 years.

John was a proud member of the Eastchester Volunteer Firefighters Association for over 50 years (earning rank of Captain of Tuckahoe Rescue Hook and Ladder and Honorary Chief), NY Turf and Landscape Association (holding various board positions), and participated in multiple sporting leagues. He enjoyed playing golf and rooting for the Yankees and Jets. He was often described as dedicated, honest, loyal, hardworking and a true gentleman. Above all, he cherished his family and friends, was obsessed with his grandchildren, and was never seen without a smile on his face.

John was predeceased by his parents, brother Frank, and five sisters Theresa, Antoinette, Helen, Gloria, and Mary. He is survived by his wife Ann of 63 years, his three daughters and their families Patricia (Ray), Debbie (Al), and JoAnn (John), 6 grandchildren (Alex, Lauren, Danielle, Chris, Jenna and Matt), his brother Alfred (Dianne), as well as numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, Inc. 190 Main St. Eastchester will be held on Thursday, October 14th from 4pm – 7pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 15th at 9:30 am at Assumption Church, 125 Wallace Street Tuckahoe, burial following at Gates of Heaven Cemetery 10 W Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.
