Obituary for James V. Papa, Sr.
James V. Papa, son of Antonio and Concetta Papa of Tuckahoe, NY died on November 25, 2021. Born on March 4, 1921, he attended Tuckahoe High School.
James was a Technical Sergeant and served in the Air Force Signal Core during World War II and the Korean War. He remained in the service for 13 years. He went on to become a hairdresser, owning a beauty salon in Waverly Square and ending his career in Chappaqua, NY.
He is predeceased by his wife Emma Torzilli Papa, his high school sweetheart. Together they had four children, DanaMarie Vedovato, James V. Papa (Lynn), Tonia Gallo (Patrick), LuAnn Capua (Bruce). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong resident of Tuckahoe, he retired to Florida and moved back home ending his life back in Tuckahoe that he loved so dearly.
He is predeceased by his sister Eleanor Marchu and brother Anthony Papa.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 3, 2021 11:00 am at Assumption Church, Tuckahoe, NY.
