Laura Ferri Fitzgerald

A Tribute to My Uncle Henry
In my opinion, my Uncle Henry "beat the odds." For those of you that know our family history, you will understand. For those of you who don't know our family history, you will appreciate this tribute.
My name is Laura Ferri Fitzgerald. I am the first grandchild to be born to Edna and Henry Burrough. I would like to state for the record that I have no idea how my uncle could have possibly existed. My grandparents were simple, quiet people and my mother, his sister Frances, was as straight laced as they came. I kept asking myself, "What are the odds that this could have happened?"
When my uncle said that he was going to get married, I said, "Are you kidding me?" You could find him in bed sleeping at my grandmother's house at 4 in the afternoon. But he went on and married my Aunt Cooky and once again I asked myself, "What are the odds this could have happened?"
Then my Aunt Cooky and Uncle Henry actually decided to have children. Once again I said, "Are you kidding me?" The pair were gallivanting around the country from one bowling alley to the next. But they went on to have my cousins, Karen, Stefanie, and Butch. And then they went on and had their beautiful families. I asked myself again, "What are the odds this could have happened?"
Finally the family legacy was in question. We all know and love Butch but children?
Then Butch met Courtney and gave us a beautiful surprise of not one but two sons that will keep the Burrough legacy alive. And for the last time I said, "What are the odds this could have ever happened?"
