Helen Gerarda Leonard, a longtime resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on June 22, 2019 at the age of 73. She was born on May 27, 1946 to the late James and Helen (Slattery) Conklin and grew up in the Bronx. Having begun her career as a Catholic School teacher in Highbridge, Bronx, she went on to spend over 30 years at the Church Pension Group in New York City. Helen is survived by her loving spouse of 42 years John Leonard, her children, Aileen Dibra (Lulzim), John Leonard (Kimberly), Catherine Viviano (Joseph), and Clare Leonard (Michael). She was the beloved grandmother of James, Emma, and John Dibra, and Christian, Liliana Helen, and Evangeline Viviano. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 3 - 8 PM at THE WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC., EASTCHESTER. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 9:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
