Obituary for Harold Wolfson

Harold Wolfson, 95, retired public relations executive and longtime Larchmont, NY resident, died Saturday December 11th. In retirement, Harold was a community activist with the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Local Summit and co-founder of the Hispanic Resource Center (now Community Resource Center). He was honored for this work with the 2006 Martin Luther King Award. His career began as a journalist for The New York Journal-American in 1949. Harold moved to public relations in 1955, working as a vice president at Ruder and Finn. In 1963, he co-founded public relations firm Rubenstein and Wolfson and was president until his retirement in 1989. Serving in the US Navy in WWII, Harold was in the V12 Program where he was sent to Trinity College and then Yale University, graduating in 1948. An avid sailor, Harold was a member of Horseshoe Harbor Yacht Club for many years. As a nonagenarian, Harold wrote two memoirs, Wind at Our Back and A Town Time Passed By: Warwick, Massachusetts. Mr. Wolfson is survived by his son Peter, daughter-in-law Donna, son-in-law Edward Jenne, and grandchildren Emily Jenne and Tyler Wolfson. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marian, and his daughter Nancy. A remembrance ceremony will be held in 2022, exact date to be determined.
