Obituary for Freya Gnerre (Anderson)

Freya Jo Anderson Gnerre, 77, passed away January 28th, 2020 in Yonkers, NY. She was born on September 14, 1942 in Redding, CA to Audrey and Edler Andersen. Her early years were spent in both Northern California and Southern California, including a year in Rock Springs, WY during WWII. Her family moved to Short Hills, NJ, where she graduated Millburn High School in 1960. Freya then attended college in Boston and went on to work for IBM in Boston and then Curtis Publishing in NYC. She joined Union Carbide in 1970 and took her retirement 23 years later. During this time she earned her BS degree in Business and Finance. This launched her into her own business, TraveLogistics, and then further to the global operations manager for SFX Entertainment.

Freya married Anthony Gnerre on May 1, 1965, in Yonkers, NY and resided there ever since. Mr. Gnerre passed away on April, 29, 2014. The Gnerres loved to travel and spending time with friends. They had no children.

The Gnerre's traveled often and Freya carried on the tradition. Recent locations included Greece, Egypt and Turkey. A fearless, traveler, she had plans for domestic trips to Missouri and Louisiana. She always returned with fun pictures and even better stories.

Mrs. Gnerre was active in many venues. She held presidential positions in a number of clubs, the most recent being Eastchester Rotary. She also cared deeply for her Millburn High School Reunion Committee, her book club and various other charitable causes. With what remained of her free time, Mrs. Gnerre took great pride in her home, her garden and her tasty Italian cooking.

Mrs. Gnerre is preceded in death by her parents (2000), her husband, Anthony (2014), her sister, Cheryl Daw (2014), her cat, Tiger, and her dog, Muffit. She is survived by her Brother-in-Law, Edward Daw, her nephew, Bradly Daw, his wife, Julie, and many loved ones near and far.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Freya would appreciate a donation made to the Eastchester Rotary or the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery.
