Obituary for Eva C. Broder (Candella)

Eva Candela Broder
Born on June 27, 1932 in Yonkers to the late Antonio and Carmela Candela, she passed on October 1, 2021 after a long illness. Eva was a very devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She had a huge heart. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Eva was famous for her delicious cheesecake and beautiful watermelon baskets. She will be remembered for her loving ways and as a strong and independent woman. She was previously married to Alexander Calabrese.
Eva married Charles L. Broder on November 20, 1982. They were devoted to each other and enjoyed a long and beautiful relationship. They loved traveling to Newport, RI and Cape Cod. Beloved mother, she is survived by her two daughters Toni Calabrese (Craig) Boelsen and Donna (Peter) Nekiforos. Devoted grandmother of Marina and Annie Sourbis and Samantha and Christopher Boelsen. She is survived by her cherished brother Anthony (Terry) Candela. Her loving brother, Arnold Candela, and beautiful sisters Fay Blasi, Lucy Rucci and Connie Turturro predeceased her. Eva was stepmother to the late Kenneth (Judy) Broder, Connie (David) McLellan, Charlotte (Eric) Honcharenko, Chuck (Pam) Broder and Cynthia Paquette. She is also survived by eight step-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren.
A mass for Eva will be held at Our Lady of Fatima in Crestwood on Wednesday, October 6 at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle.
