Obituary for Eileen O'Keeffe (O'Keeffe)

Eileen O'Keeffe, 68, of Eastchester, NY, passed away on January 14, 2019 after a valiant battle against ovarian cancer. Eileen was born in New York City on November 28, 1950. She grew up in the Bronx and attended St. Barnabas High School where she made several lifelong friends. She is predeceased by her father, Cornelius O'Keeffe; her mother, Matilda Frawley; her brother, John Joe (Suds) O'Keeffe; as well as her sisters, Sheila Wilson and Penny O'Friel. Eileen is survived by her beloved daughters, Erin and Chloe O'Keeffe; her adored granddaughter, Stella O'Keeffe; her sister, Kay O'Keeffe and her brother Cony O'Keeffe as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She also leaves behind many other loving relatives, friends and devoted yoga students.
Eileen loved yoga and was a certified yoga instructor for 25 years. She also loved biking, particularly on the Bronx River Parkway near her home, where she would set up a hammock, read and relax. She also loved traveling, visiting gardens and going to the beach, especially swimming in the ocean.
Eileen was a valued employee of Westchester Day School for 26 years. She also was a member of the Yoga Teachers Association and regularly participated in many yoga seminars and retreats in the Hudson Valley area and beyond.
Eileen's family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her fight against cancer.
Friends and family who wish to pay their respects may do so at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME (190 Main Street, Eastchester, NY) on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Eileen's life at the Woolworth Memorial Chapel at WOODLAWN CEMETERY (Webster Avenue and East 233rd Street, Bronx, NY) on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11am. Online condolences can be given at www.westchesterfuneralhome.com.
