Obituary for Dwight "Coach" Doscher

Dwight G. Doscher was welcomed into the Lord's embrace on December 18th, 2023. He passed away peacefully with his devoted wife and best friend, Kathy Doscher, and beloved brother-in-law, Tommy McKeon, at his side following weeks of visits from friends and family.

Dwight was born in the Bronx, NY on April 2, 1952 to his parents Arthur and Rita Doscher. He was raised in the Bronx with his three brothers Arthur, Victor, and Franklin. He attended Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, Iona College in New Rochelle, and earned his Masters degree from Pace University during his 30 year career with IBM.

He began his joy of coaching while his children played little league baseball, and coached basketball in numerous leagues and teams before committing to the Iona Prep community for over a decade. At Iona Prep he coached basketball and football, and at the Iona Preparatory Lower School he served as the Director of Athletics. He believed in sport as a means to enable, support, focus, and guide students throughout their education. He is affectionately called 'Coach' by members of the Prep community and many others.

Dwight and Kathy have been married for over 45 years. Their relationship is a testament to friendship, dedication, love, and partnership. Together they raised Jennifer, Dwight, and Bryan at their family home in Eastchester, NY. Dwight's cherished grandchildren JD, Adelyn, and Louisa filled him with pride and joy.

Dwight's legacy is written with love, strength, and pride - family above all, and commitment to community. He will be missed tremendously, just as he loved and was loved in return.

He is survived by his wife, brothers, children, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as countless friends he made throughout his life.
